A consolidated data center for a telecom operator's digital services
Client
Safarifone
Telecommunications

Smart Fusion built out Safarifone's data center on Proxmox VE, a six-node cluster on Supermicro and HP ProLiant servers that consolidates the operator's digital services and back-office systems, with the storage, networking, high availability, backup, and monitoring to run a carrier-grade platform.
Safarifone's customer-facing and internal systems were running on separate physical servers with no shared platform, no failover, and manual, server-by-server operations. Adding a service meant adding a box, and a hardware fault meant downtime.
Smart Fusion consolidated the data center onto a Proxmox VE cluster of six servers, five Supermicro and one HP ProLiant DL380. The operator's web properties, subscription portals, VoIP and DSL supporting systems, and back-office applications were migrated into isolated virtual machines and containers, backed by ZFS storage with snapshots and high availability. The cluster was segmented into management, cluster, public-facing, and internal networks and integrated with Safarifone's existing routing and firewall. Cluster-wide backups run on a schedule with tested restores, and the platform is instrumented with metrics, alerting, and runbooks. Smart Fusion closed the engagement with documentation and an administrator handover.
- Every Safarifone system consolidated onto a six-node Proxmox VE cluster the operator owns and controls
- High availability, so critical services restart on a healthy node if hardware fails
- Segmented carrier networking integrated with the operator's existing network
- Scheduled, tested backups and fast recovery for every virtual machine
- Documentation and admin training so Safarifone's team runs the data center itself
